Amorgos – The Island of the Endless Blue
Amorgos, the easternmost island of the Cyclades, is famous for its wild beauty, crystal-clear waters, and mystical atmosphere. It’s the island where scenes from the movie “The Big Blue” were filmed, further enhancing its reputation.
Geography and Landscape
Amorgos covers an area of about 126 sq. km and is characterized by rugged terrain, high mountains, steep cliffs, and endless views of the Aegean Sea. The island stretches nearly 33 kilometers in length, making it ideal for exploration by car or on foot.

Amorgos has been inhabited since antiquity and is closely linked to the Cycladic civilization. In ancient times, it was home to three city-states: Aegiali, Arkesini, and Minoa.
The island’s most important monument is the Monastery of Panagia Hozoviotissa, built in the 11th century on a steep cliff, offering breathtaking views.
